The MSLBMDA4will be conducting an Blueprint Reading & Material Take-Off Workshop December 7-8, 2016 at the Doubletree by Hilton Denver-Stapleton North, 4040 Quebec St, Denver 80216, 303-321-6666—$99 room rates.
Workshop hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Your instructor will be Casey Voorhees, WBMA’s Executive Director. This is the program that your employees have been waiting for— the workshop will consist of 2 full days of instruction and discussion of residential construction methods, blueprint reading and material take-off. Attendees will receive hands-on experience figuring an actual set of working drawings. This program is not two one-day classes, but a two-day program designed to take your employees from the basics through a complete take-off.
Registration fee for this 2-day workshop is $395 per member, $695 nonmember. Included in your registration fee is a course manual, set of blueprints, architectural scale and joist/truss layout scale & breaks. Lunch is on your own and there are several restaurants nearby at Norfield (which is also home to a huge Bass ProShop). Day 1– Wed., December 7
Attendees will learn basic blueprint reading by identifying lines, symbols and details while developing an understanding of elevations, floor plans, framing and sectional views. Students will be introduced to various residential construction methods and estimating formulas while working on a basic single level home with a trussed roof.
Day 2–Thurs., December 8
Attendees will work on a contemporary home that will include irregular floor and roof layouts. Additional attention will be given to stick framed roof systems including valley over-framing, common, hip and jack rafters.
